style this

like the freewheeling boho style of the "free people" brand?  try this vintage "all that jazz" sweater dress, fringed floral scarf, one of a kind necklace by porkchop rules, vintage hat, and vintage harness boots, all currently for sale at crimson & clover.

we are busting at the seams with vintage and handmade goodness at the shop right now.  freshly picked vintage, new markdowns on the packed sale rack out front, loads of one of a kind handmade necklaces...it's all just waiting for you.
earlier in the week i was inspired by a pictorial in the current issue of american vogue that featured tweeds, so i pulled a few pieces from our racks to style....then i kept going and put together a couple more ensembles that capture a little of what a couple of those old favorite catalogs seem to offer.  is it us imitating them? probably more like us imitating them imitating us, as designers and brands are constantly copying being inspired by vintage and thrift store finds.  read a bit of one woman's firsthand account here.  in the end, it is clothing, and it should be fun.  so smile, and put on something good today.

tweeds and pattern mixing?  check out "for king and country" in november 2010 vogue, and try our vintage Pendleton blazer, vintage plaid skirt, vintage leopard print belt, plaid fleece scarf, and vintage zip boots.
if you favor the modern romance of the anthropologie catalog, try a vintage "Byer, too!" dress, vintage tapestry belt, vintage cardigan, one of a kind earrings by porkchop rules, and basic pumps made special with the addition of shoe clips.

p.s.  last minute costumes still available....and have a safe and happy weekend!

lovely locals

almost on a daily basis we have folks wander in to the shop from far and near. some recommended to us by a friend, some happening by just having finished a meal at Hot Italian, others as if being magnetically drawn to us by some otherworldly vintage power.  we enjoy sharing our little shop with newcomers....but we are also really really fortunate to have loyal regulars, whose smiles we love seeing come through the door.

above, tiava--one of our lovely regulars!!-- is wearing a gorgeous vintage brocade dress from c&c.  the second photo is of tiava and priscilla, who also found her dress at our shop.  they were attending the wedding of a friend (beautiful bride!); they looked great and i hear that they had a lovely time, too.  we just had to post their pics, both as a little shout out to them (hi!  thanks so much!  we love you!) and to brag about the beauty and sweetness of our customers.

another regular who we keep forgetting to snap a photo of (because 9 out of 10 times she comes in she is wearing something she got at c&c) is nicole.  but the okay part of our forgetting to get her picture is that she often blogs about her outfits and things she picks up at our shop (like the shoes above--why did i sell those?! oh yeah, not my size..).  check out her blog here for outfit posts, art, and more.
and check out our featured local blogs at the side for more lovely regulars, too.
thank you thank you thank you to all those who shop with us.  helping you find that something special makes all our work worthwhile.

meanwhile, we've been doing a little rearranging at the shop. coats have been coming out to play, the mens section has had a little makeover, and more.....

psst, Halloween approaches...and we can help
p.s.  as always, we have steals and deals for under $10 on the front rack outside

Free People vs. C&C

Wow just got an email about the new Vintage looks from Free People. Nicole found all these great wrap skirts. I snagged this one, it has cranes on it.  Right now at the store we have looks just like the VINTAGE section of Free People and for a lot less! So come in before they are gone.
